Lee Martin’s first Town brace and Michael Chopra’s perhaps inevitable goal against his old club saw the Blues to a 3-0 victory over Cardiff at Portman Road and to four wins on the trot for the first time since November 2004. Martin put Town in front in the first half from Daryl Murphy’s cutback, Chopra converting Carlos Edwards’s cross just after the break and Martin added the third when he made the most of a defensive lapse.

Michael Chopra’s last-gasp winner saw the Blues to a dramatic 3-2 victory over Coventry at the Ricoh Arena. Town went ahead through a deflected Jay Emmanuel-Thomas shot but allowed the home side back into the game before the break via a Sammy Clingan penalty and Gary Deegan. However, in the second half Chopra followed up Lee Martin’s penalty to equalise, then clinched all three points at the death.

Town’s FA Cup campaign came to a third round end for the fifth time in eight years as the Blues lost 3-1 at Hull City. The home side were 2-0 in front at the break via Aaron Mclean and Tom Cairney before half-time sub Jason Scotland pulled one back for Town, but Cameron Stewart sealed the Tigers’ place in round four in injury time.

Town’s 2012 got off to the worst possible start with goal-phobic Nottingham Forest leaving Portman Road with a 3-1 victory. Marcus Tudgay and Garath McCleary put the visitors - who hadn’t scored in their seven previous games - two goals in front at the break, then after the Blues had missed a number of chances, skipper Grant Leadbitter pulled one back from the penalty spot before Tudgay sealed Forest’s victory with his second of the afternoon.

The Blues manager will be forced into one change with central defender Ibrahima Sonko suspended, while Jason Scotland faces a fitness test this morning after missing the Madejski Stadium game due to the hamstring injury he suffered at Leicester on Boxing Day.
